Vanane Borian was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. She Immigrated to Israel with parents in 1998. Vanane graduated from the multidisciplinary design department at Shenkar
College of Engineering, Design, and Arts, with Bachelor and Master degrees. From 2016 she is working on her Ph.D. thesis at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Art. The topic of her dissertation is “Post-USSR feminist art in post-soviet countries and in the Immigration field”. Her main idea is to collaborate on practical work, theoretical research, and activism in the sphere of social critical arts.
As a woman and an immigrant, Vanane focuses on issues of identities, stereotype views of women in the society and typical gender problems. Her artworks discuss and criticise political problems, ethnic traditions, patriarchy stereotypes, the religion as a dictator of morality and the role of a woman in our social and political lives.
